I use ExtendScript Debugger with VSCode for Adobe Javascript on MacOSX. Now I hear that VSCode for MacOSX will be retired in 2024.
What will be the best way to script Adobe apps on MacOSX when that happens?
It is Visual Studio for Mac that is being deprecated, which is a separate product from Visual Studio Code. You will probably continue to use it.
sttk3 is correct: OP heard incorrectly. (Admittedly, MS’s branding is confusing.)

VSCode is MS’s modern cross-platform replacement for the old VS4M.
Adobe scripters are not affected by VS4M’s retirement.

Thank you both! Indeed the branding got me confused. So now I know I use VSCode and that I've never even used VS4M.

“the branding got me confused”
Indeed. I believe it’s a Redmond motto. (Tho’ far from alone!)
