Questions about illustrator defaults

I've been using illustrator for many years now and everytime, I make a new document, I have to change the document color mode to RGB, change the color swatches to RGB, and hide the artboards, before I start drawing. Is there anyway to make all these settings the default for a new document?

A couple of ways, You can save your preferred document style as a template file (.ait) and save it in the Template folder inside your App folder (Cool Extras > * > Templates), or you can save it as new document Profile (Support Files > New Document Profiles > * >)

The disadvantage of saving as an .ait file is that it does not contain an ICC profile.

You can save a normal.ai file (with all the settings you want like size, styles, units, swatches and more) in the template folder and open it as a template and it keeps the document color profile.

Yes, choose a document preset based on Art & Illustration or create your own preset with your custom settings.
