Hello!

I hope you can help me. I am using the extrusion tool for the first time for buildings and I am wondering why the extrusion lenght is "upward" and "downwards" (so on each side of the line)? It's very difficult then to position the buildings - maybe someone can help me?

So does it look like:

Extrusion settings (german):

Thank you very much - I think I just set one thing wrong

Hi

If you are trying to draw buildings, you might do better using a full fledged 3D program such as Blender instead of Illustrator’s 3D effects.

It is always difficult to position objects in with the 3D effect

Your way comes closer to the original position, but it is very different from the default extrusion options (see my screendump).

I would recommend to create a new window (View > New Window) of your document and work in that one in Outline Preview mode for positioning.
