Random glyph at the end of everything I Paste?

If I 'Ctrl-C' plain text from any website, any file name, or any text whatsoever when I 'Ctrl-V Paste' I get this random glyph that copies over. Is there any way to stop this? It only happens in Illustrator, and only happens with 'Ctrl-V Paste'. I always make sure to only copy the text, and if I paste it anywhere else there is no glyph. It's small but super frustrating! Any help is appreciated!

Obviously there is text. A character that is not in the font you are using in Illustrator.

You can try and first paste the text into a text editor (pure text, no rich text) then copy it from there and into Illustrator.

Also: do you use a clipboard enhancing system extension?
