RE: How to override the Actions "Effects...Stylize...Scribble"

Hi,

I posted this on the other side of the forum, but told that it would be better suited here as you would be able to help?

I am trying to add a scribble effect (Effects, Stylize, Scribble) to a load of artwork in CS3 which has been converted from video to tiffs. Because of the amount of files (which will be in the thousands), I have added some actions. I can record the majority of actions but when I go to record effects, illustrator will not understand, so I then go to 'Insert menu item' to pick it out manually. The only problem with this is that is has no override option and keeps asking me to click 'ok' after every file.

Is there any way to override this?

Another method I have tried is to use the Graphic Styles. I have tried the 'insert menu item' action to pick it out from 'Window > Graphic Style Library > Scribble Effects', but after this, the script wont add the chosen Scribble Style to my Graphic Style Tab or to my vectors and skips this action.

Is there anything I can do to help me with my project?

By the way, I know nothing about scripting, but was told this may be the only way?

Thanks in advance,

Nick.

You are working with an Action (a UI feature), not a script. The question would arguably be appropriate for either forum.

Are you aware of the column in the Actions Palette for toggling on/off Action steps dialogs? Have you tried that?

If not, list EXACTLY and FULLY the steps in your Action.

Cheers for the reply.

Yeah, I have used the toggle switch, but for the 'Effect' action, it is grey, so unusable and gives no option.

The two different methods that I have tried with actions are:

Effects-Stylize-scribble method:

>Select all
>Tracing
>Set stroke
>Effect, Stylize, Scribble <<<<Fails here due to prompt.
>Save as
>Export
>Close

Graphic Styles method:

>Select all
>Tracing
>Set stroke
>Save as
>Scribble effect
>Apply: Scribble stroke 2 <<<<Fails here as need to add brush manually
>Export
>Close

Nick, any chance of being able to supply some sample files and your action?
