Recolour help from Adobe Stock Image

Question

I am new to Illustrator, and I am trying to recolour the Adobe Stock Image "AdobeStock_129114019" (Thin infinity sign) and I have followed the steps to recolour the Artwork. Edit - Edit Colours - Recolour Artwrok - Advanced Options - Select the NEW colour - enter in the HEX and it does not work. I select the colour and nothing changes. What steps am I missing? This image was downloaded from Adobe Stock and not edited since downloading. The other issue I am having is that the HEX code I am trying to use is "out of gamet" I am trying to use #2233CC.

That artwork is blck. In Recolor artwork you first need to allow the Recoloring of black. Then you also need to check the document color mode. It's probably a CMYK document. You cannot expect the color to look the same in Canva and in your CMYK document. That won't happen. You want to use this in a screen based project? Then change the document color mode to RGB.

Are you recolouring the vector version? (ai/eps).

Easiest way to change the colour is to select it, and choose a colour from your swatches. Make sure you've selected "fill" if you want to change the black to the "2233CC" colour. Your hex code should work fine there. My document is in CMYK. Check your colour settings here: File > Document Colour Mode
