Question

Refilling shape within adjusted outline

Hello. I have a shape in Illustrator that has a 2pt stroke (one color) with a fill (second color). I want to separate the stroke and fill the color into two compound paths. I specifically want the fill shape to only fill to the inner edge of the visible 2pt stroke. Right now, if I copy the two elements and set one with fill only and the other stroke only (2pt), the fill shape extends over the edge to the original shape. I hope this makes sense. Link to file:

You may select the filled path, go to Effect menu > Path > Offset Path, take (minus) 1 Pt offset and then Expand Appearance in the Object menu.

Thank you for taking a look. That didn't work for me. The offset -1 looks the same as the original fill (without a stroke). Adjusting to -2 or more had no effect either.

That wouldn't be normal behaviour. You did Expand Appearance (see Object menu), didn't you?

Or are you saying that the Offset Path effect does not work at all? If so, can you share a sample Illustrator file?

Thank you. English is not my mother tongue, I don't think I can make sense of what you are describing. Can you sketch it?
