Releasing shapes from Objects on a Path

Hi,

I'm using the Objects on a Path tool for the first time and I want to be able to delete the shapes that are on the endpoints of my path without it affecting the rest of the shapes or distrubution. I also want to be able to delete the path but keep the shapes in their arrangement. Is this possible? Or is this better to achieve another way?

Thank you!

Katrina,

I believe the long answer is Object > Objects on Path > Expand (in the Object dropdown).

You can read about it here, under Expand the Objects on Path group,

To keep the Objects on a Path object alive you may also direct select the two blue circles at the endpoints of the red path and set their strokes to None (or opacity = 0 %). Then direct select the red path and also set its stroke to None (or 0 % opacity).

You are welcome, Katrina.

Expand is an option in many contexts.

It is good to keep a backup of artwork that you may wish to be able to fall back on.
