Repeating pattern problem

New Here ,
Mar 30, 2021 Mar 30, 2021

When I drag my pattern to swatches to create a repeating pattern, it seems to affect the image quality. I print out a sample sheet at home and the image is blurry, porly defined edges and even the colour is slightly different. If I hand place motifs to make a pattern and prit this out, it's perfect. One of my patterns doesn't have a background, but this gets converted to a white background once I make it a pattern in swatches. Anyone have any ideas about this? I use a surface pro. Thanks

There's nothing really to screen shot as the issue is in the printing. The photo doesn't really show the full extent of the changes. Left is the hand placed pattern, right is when I make a repeating pattern by dragging it in to the swatches. This is just one example. I'm saving as a pdf. cmyk. I have run the latest Ai updates.

Also adding that if I build a pattern using the pattern make tool, it prints just fine.

It looks as if one of them gets printed as a raster image (or even is a raster image)

I don't understand the difference in how you create those files.

Can you perhaps share the files?
