Resetting type shape on a path after being skewed from transforming the path its on

When I adjust the path that the type is sitting on, the type becomes skewed. Is this a setting? I cannot find a way to reset the type to it's proper height and width.

Correct answer kohesion

the top type is how the words should look - the bottom one I have altered the shape of the path it is on and the letters become skewed. Hope that helps.

I worked it out! It was the horizontal scale settings in the character panel....

Check Type > Path text > Options. There are settings. Anything but Rainbow might come out distorted.
