Restore to previous version before save in illustrator

I accidentally pressed save and closed the Illustrator file. I want to get the previous version of the file because I had important artwork in it. Is there any way to get that back?

Not really, though if you are on a Mac you could try to dig into your file versions in the File --> Info panel and see if there is an older one that could be restored. Anything beyond that would require to use specific disk restoration tools or complex procedures fishing the data from system caches and such, but without even basic system info nobody can even begin to advise on how to best proceed.

If Time Machine is not an option, then maybe it's an AIC file (Illustrator Cloud)?

Maybe it's time to think about a backup strategy for your workflow.
