RTL Text option missing in Arabic Illustrator Version 28.6 on macOS

Despite installing the English یدعم العربیه version of Illustrator and enabling both the Indic Options and the Middle Eastern and South Asian Single-Line Text Composer, I still don't have the RTL (right to left) text options for Arabic. As a result, the dots and symbols at the end of the text are appearing on the right side instead of the left.

Can anyone please help?

In the screenshots you can see my seetings as well as the text.

I am using the most up-to-date version of the illustrator (28.6) as of 2024 Aug 20th.

MacBook Pro 13-inch, M1, 2020, MacOS Sonoma 14.5

I'm currently working with illustrator and typing in Persian. However, I noticed that there's no option for enabling Right-to-Left (RTL) text alignment within the software. Additionally, I cannot use Persian (Farsi) numbers as there seems to be no setting to switch from English to Persian digits.

Is there a way to enable RTL text alignment and use Persian numbers in illustrator? If these features are not currently available, are there any workarounds or plugins that could help?

Any guidance would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you.

Uninstall Illustrator.

Please switch the language setting to English (Arabic) in the Creative Cloud Desktop app preferences.

Install and launch Illustrator.

Your Character and Paragraph panels should look like this.

After seeing the screenshots you shared with us here, it appears that you don't have the Middle Eastern version which will provide full Right-to-Left controls you require.

Here is my Paragraph panel…

And here is your's…

Notice, you're missing the Paragraph Directions controls that will force your pargraphs throghout your document to flow right to left, and these two button controls will make sure the punctuation marks to appear at the end of the paragraph ie. on the left.

As many have suggested, you need to remove your current Illustrator, HOWEVER, when you uninstall Illustrator, make sure you choose the "Remove" button shown below…

Once you have successfully removed/uninstalled your Illustrator, make sure to have your Laguage set to "English/يدعم العربية" then download a fresh Illustrator copy.

Hi @wise_student5CEA,

Thank you for sharing the details and screenshots—I'm sorry you're facing this issue with RTL text in Illustrator.

To reveal the Middle Eastern type options in the Illustrator interface, please go to Preferences > Type > Show Indic Options. If the options still don't appear, I suggest removing any other versions of Illustrator you might have installed, resetting the preferences, and then trying again.

Please let us know how it goes, and we'll be here to assist further if needed.

Best regards,

Anshul Saini

I wanted to check if you've had a chance to go through my screenshots.

It seems like the steps you've suggested are things I've already tried, but I'm still experiencing issues.

I've also attached the relevant screenshots for reference.

Could you please take another look?

Thank you.
