Save file pop-up window stops batching progress

My team works collectively and is currently working remotely. We work out of a harddrive and a personalized online database. All Illustrator work is saved to both the online database and to the harddrive. For our quality control process I batch all of the collective ai files to PDFs (this is out of the harddrive). I've noticed (since covid/remoting) that every so often a file will pause the batching process to ask whether said file should be saved before closing. I already have the "Override Action "Save" Commands" for the Destination folder checked. My guess for this issue is that not everyone (a total of 6 people) is using the same Illustrator version. I'm posting this just in case anyone else might have a different idea of what could be causing this window to show or if you agree with my guesstimation.

Thanks so much,

Sabrina

I have the same problem, tried several different setting in the batch, after every file the batch process stops to save the file.

I've attached a video of the process.

Any Help?

Hello @Deleted User,

I'm sorry to hear about your experience. Could you share more details, like the exact version of the OS/Illustrator and a link to a sample AI and action file, so we can investigate this further?

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Thanks,

Anubhav

Hi!

Sorry, it's been 3 years!

This issue still occurs occasionally, even now that we're no longer remoting. My current OS is 28.5. An example would be you play the action of batching and during the course of the batch it will periodically pop up a window asking you to save a file before moving on to the next file, ultimately freezing the batch until you answer this question. This pop-up window does not explain why I'm saving this file, which is why I initially posed the question.

What has helped with this issue is taking the folder out of the drive and placing a copy of it on my desktop. I think part of the issue was the lengthy address of all the subfolders, and had less to do with Illustrator and more to do with saving it as a PDF. I also think really long names of files will cause this window to pop up and hold up the batching process. In these cases, the pop-up window will tell you that that is the reason. I believe anything over 25 characters is too long.

I hope this was more insight!
