Save for Web in Illustrator creates multiple files rather than 1 png file

Help!  I am trying to save an illustrator file to web.  I selected the PNG-24 format but when I save it creates a folder called images with multiple files in it - rather than one png file. None of the files have the entire graphic in it - either nothing at all or slices of the file.  I can see an orange/yellow bounding box in teh 2-up mode that appears to be showing me slices - this is where the images cut off.  Please help!  On deadline.

You probably will need to delete the slices in your file.

There don¹t appear to be any slices set.

View > Show Slices does not show any?

If this does not help and reading the manual does not either, please show screenshots of the file and the Save for web dialog box

It does!! Pink lines when View/Show slices. How do I get rid of? When I

go to object release slices it is grayed out.
