Question

Save Illustrator files locally instead of Cloud

Illustrator v27.5 gives me no option but to save to Cloud. The only way around this is to save a copy of the file. There has been numerous conversations about this and, whilst preferences may be altered in Photoshop or InDesign, as far as I can ascertain there is no such option in Illustrator any more. I thought that one of the purposes in updating software was to enhance productivity (speed) as well as innovative creative options. However I cannot see what enhancement this brings. It is annoying to say the least and does nothing to enhance user experience.

Does Illustrator have full disk access?

Full access. Only me operating this Mac. This is what is shown when ‘Save As’ is chosen with no other option available. Nothing in Preferences to choose. Cannot choose anything outside the ’Save to Creative Cloud’ box.

So when you click File > Save As there is a box that is supposed to come up. In the bottom left corner should be a button that says "On your computer" If you click that you'll (annoyingly) get another box thats prompts you to save to the cloud. There should be another button to the left of the blue "Save to cloud" button that says "Save to your computer". That button will allow you to finally save to your computer without saving to the cloud.

This is what comes up immediately after choosing ‘Save As’. No other alternatives come up and attempting to choose anything outside of the ’Save to Creative Cloud’ box will not work. Preferences do not give any other option.
