Illustrator v27.5 gives me no option but to save to Cloud. The only way around this is to save a copy of the file. There has been numerous conversations about this and, whilst preferences may be altered in Photoshop or InDesign, as far as I can ascertain there is no such option in Illustrator any more. I thought that one of the purposes in updating software was to enhance productivity (speed) as well as innovative creative options. However I cannot see what enhancement this brings. It is annoying to say the least and does nothing to enhance user experience.

So when you click File > Save As there is a box that is supposed to come up. In the bottom left corner should be a button that says "On your computer" If you click that you'll (annoyingly) get another box thats prompts you to save to the cloud. There should be another button to the left of the blue "Save to cloud" button that says "Save to your computer". That button will allow you to finally save to your computer without saving to the cloud.

Thanks. I know what's supposed to come up but it does not, (unless I'm missing something). I get a warning beep if I dare to click outside the 'Save to Creative Cloud'box and there is no choice in Illustrator Preferences to alter this. As far as I can see there are no other expandable boxes in the Illustrator window to alter this either.

Hi @PBG5,
We apologize for the delayed response. We understand your frustration with the save options in Illustrator v27.5.
Would you mind updating your Illustrator to the latest version (v27.6.1) and checking if the same behavior persists?
If you continue to experience the same problem after updating, please let us know, and we'll be glad to assist you further. We appreciate your patience and understanding.
Best,
