Save PDF file as image

Community Beginner ,
Nov 15, 2023 Nov 15, 2023

I'm encountering difficulties when saving my PDF files in Illustrator. Ideally, I'd like to save them as something akin to an image, much like how one would save a PDF from Photoshop. I often receive feedback that my files are large and take time to open, and occasionally when others print them, the pattern isn't fully visible.

How can I optimise a PDF for quick loading in Reader and trouble-free printing? On some occasions, the patterns turn entirely white as well.

I would make a copy of your file, this PDF is an RGB file that contain spot colors.

Spot colors are use for printing and normally are used in CMYK files.

Select All and choose Edit > Edit Colors > Convert to RGB

From the Object menu choose Rasterize.

Save as pdf without Illustrator editing capabilities (this is destructive!)
