I've saved my artwork on Illustrator as a DXF ready to be laser cut but the laser cutter cannot open the file at their end. Is there a reason why they are not able to do it. They are using AutoCad 2023 but the latest year that comes up when i try to save it is 2018. Is that why there is an issue?

Hi @norab22976886,

Sorry for the delayed response. The issue you're facing with saving your Illustrator artwork as a DXF file for laser cutting could indeed be related to the version compatibility between Illustrator and AutoCAD.

If DXF/DWG files can be opened in the latest versions of Illustrator but not in AutoCAD, please share the file with me for further investigation. Our team will do their best to resolve any issues that may exist. If the exported DXF file is not opening in Illustrator as well after exporting, then would you mind sharing the AI file so we can further investigate the issue?

Also, please ask the laser cutter team to share the screenshot of the error they are getting when opening the DXF file.

Please share the information or any other detail you can provide, and we'll do our best to assist you further.

Kindly update the discussion if you still need assistance with it. We'd be happy to help.

Best,

Anshul Saini
