Saving illustrator file as an older version not working

Hi,

I need to save an illustrator file as a version 8 (to use in cinema 4d)

I save it as the older version but afterwards in the properties of the file it is version 26.

Have tried in illustrator 2021 and 2022 but there is no way to save it as any other version.

If you are using the current version of C4D which is r.25, you don't need to save AI files as version 8 anymore. The new vector import workflow supports current version Ai files. Though if you are using an older version then yes, it would still be necessary.

In the previous versions I always use the way Ton showed and it still works.

Where are you viewing the properties?

Even if you save a file backwards to an older version, the "CreatorVersion" will always be the number of the version you are working with. The file format will be listed as "Creator" and will be 8.0.

if you open the file ina text editor, you will see this in the header.

you can try my javascript for saving.

The new version 2.7.1 now also saves .ai8 files for CINEMA 4D and other programmes that can only read old AI files. In addition, contained text can be converted into paths when saving as a copy, for example as an .eps file.
