Good day to all ..im new here & a newbie with Ai
Been using EasySign for over 18years & planing of switching to Ai.
So ... my question is ... if I take a picture of something ,let's say ,a Shop Front !
I normally take a simple measurement of ...lets say,the width of the window.
Then I put the picture on the Easy SIGN software ...use a tool (transform-scale & measure)
Will place the mouse over the edge of the window & move to the other edge of the window.
Then enter the measurement I took of the width & Press Enter.....&the whole photo will enlarge to proportion.
Then I can measure every thing on the picture & will not be far off the actual measurements.
How can I do that in Adobe Illustrator?
Thanks in advance
Felix

You can't do that in Illustrator. Most of the time the storefront will be much larger than Illustrator's max document size.
And then you also don't have such a tool in Illustrator. There are CAD plugins that can add it.

That will work.
Max document size is about 6 x 6 metres.
For larger sizes you will have to work in scale.

Thanks Again ...
Been looking on you tube & getting some education already .
The Ai limits are endless & can't wait to become a fluent user in Ai
Thanks for now.

You're welcome.
In order to work in scale you could check out the plugins:
- CAD tools (kind of the CAD standard plugin, expensive)
- VectorScribe (among its tools is a measure tool that allows you to set up scales)
- ToolShed Adobe Illustrator plugins — rj-graffix (allows you to scale objects to a certain size)
