Script to emulate Photoshop's 'Generate Image Assets' functionality

Hi all

I wonder if anyone could point me in the right direction. I am looking for a script or for help and advice on creating a script for AI that will essentially attempt to mimic the PS's generate image assets (https://helpx.adobe.com/africa/photoshop/using/generate-assets-layers.html)

What is great about generate image assets is that you can define in the layer/group/artboard name, the exact folder path, file name, format, and scale attributes of the artwork contained within. You can then set up huge export templates with numerous artboards and layers and have them all go to the right place with the right attributes. This is really powerful because often when exporting a lot of media for consumption, the images often need to have the same name, but need to be placed in different folders or have different resolutions etc. In PS this is great, very easy to set up, but somehow AI just doesn't seem to have any equivalent. Is there anything similar available at least to start with for AI?
