I updated Illustrator and lost all my settings, such as custom shortcuts, favorite fonts, layout, etc. I went and had most of it back to set up how I prefer it. Now today my computer froze and had to restart and lost all of my settings again. The biggest thing is the fonts that I have saved to my favorites. How do I keep this from happening?
Before installing a new version, there's check box that lets you keep the previous settings and preferences.
If you don't check it, your old setting won't get installed on the new version.
if you start saving your preferences manually on the new install, close Illustrator to save the preferences, otherwise if it crashes, illustrator won't have a chance to save the preference file which is done at closing time.
