Severe Font Issues after Adobe Logout + Ongoing Copy-Paste Bug in Illustrator
On July 2nd, Creative Cloud unexpectedly disconnected during my work session (confirmed via status.adobe.com). I was logged out, Adobe Fonts were disabled, and Illustrator automatically replaced all missing fonts in several open files – in some cases with completely unrelated fonts like barcode styles.
Without any prompt or confirmation, Illustrator saved these changes on closing. The result: corrupted files, with key fonts now appearing at the very bottom of the font list, ungrouped and partially unusable.
Additionally, I've been struggling with a longstanding Copy & Paste issue in Illustrator:
Certain text blocks can’t be copied between documents – even though the SVG clipboard option is disabled.
Questions:
- Why does Illustrator silently replace missing fonts and save without asking?
- Is there any way to disable or block this behavior?
- Are there known fixes for the persistent Copy & Paste issue?
This happened right before a deadline and an upcoming print delivery – it cost me a tremendous amount of time and energy and was absolutely unacceptable under those conditions.
