Mentor ,
Feb 22, 2023 Feb 22, 2023

There is three constric circle and a retangular. After using Shape Builder Tool, Compound Path is created in the layer panel & shape becomes complicated after that. That means there are shapes one over other, video shows this. How can I understand this issue? File also attached as well.

The shapebuilder tool creates what you tell it to.

If you want to delete shapes, press Alt while clicking with the shapebuilder tool.

Perhaps you could explain why this is an issue and what you'd like to achieve.

Maha,

If you really count the circles, you actually start with 3 circles and end with 5 (partial/full) circles: 2 in each of the rings and 1 as the simple innermost circle which corresponds to the original smallest one. You need those 2 x 2 = 4 circles to make the ring shapes.

As I (mis)understand you wish, you can just delete the innermost circle; you can delete it along with the inner end of the rectangle while using the Shape Builder Tool.
