Shape Builder Tool not working for me!

This is extremely frustrating as i spent a few hours on this as well all do on our art. I get to the last part that requires me to clean it up and for some reason the shape builder tool doesn't want to delete lines or merge anything. Just the entire entity. I tried filling it with clear, ungrouping all of it, i tried grouping all of it. Nothing seems to work. please help me!

You've got a live paint object in there.

Why don't you just continue using Live paint for what you're doing? You can add more paths to it.

All i did was release the object from live paint and everything worked again. Thank  you all for your help!

    Double click the shape builder tool in the tool panel.

    Turn on Gap detection.

    Hi

    It's difficult to tell from your video, but it looks to me like there are gaps in your art that are preventing the Shape Builder from working as you're expecting. Take a look at the art in Outline View (CMD+Y/CTRL+Y) to see if there are gaps, then correct them if required and try again.

    If that doesn't work, could you share the file?

    How would i go about sharing the file? Also the thing with this design is that they're not technically supposed to be touching because it's a balisong which means the handles move and such.
