Shape corners together

Hi, I'm new in Ilustrator and learning.
I have this set of corners that I'm trying to shape a bit more with the direct selection tool, but I was wondering if they could be shaped in the same way at the same time so they end up looking the same.

The  screenshot doesn't let me show the arrow, but basically I want to make the outer corners a bit more curved and I'm using the direct selection tool where when I hover over the line with the mouse a little curved line with two squares on ecah end appears.

    Yeshayac, If I understand you correctly, you are wanting inverted corners with an inset stroke and easy edits to modify.

     

    Here are the steps I used. It’s just one rectangle.

     

    With your rectangle tool, draw a rectangle. (shown in brown)

    In your Transform panel, select inverted corners. Type in the radius you want. I choose 24.

    While still selected, Appearance Panel, Add a new Stroke, located in the flyout menu, shown in cyan here)

    Give that cyan stroke an offset effect. (Effect>Path>Offset. Here I used -8)

     

    OK, say you want to modify. No problem. Everything is still live.

    See the screen shot below with the new settings.

      Thanks! I used that and then just made the outer corner rounder with the pen

      You'll get better results by using Illustrator's Pathfinder operations to cut the desired shapes out of the corners. It takes a few steps, such as aligning circles to the right positions over the corners (works quickly using Smart Guides) and then using the Minus Front operation in the Pathfinder palette. It sounds a little complicated, but it's actually a lot easier than manually fidding with an object's corners using the direct select tool. You'll be able to size the circles used to cut through the corners as big or small as you like.

       

      Another trick: use the corner widget to apply a rounded corner to an object such as a rectangle. Then use the scissors tool to cut the anchor points that define that rounded corner. Flip the curved path segment both vertically and horiztonally using Reflect commands. Then select re-join the broken path segments.

       

      There are also third party plugins that can generate corners on objects with just one or two clicks. Dynamic Corners by Astute Graphics is one such plugin.
