Hello folks,
Happy Thursday. I need some help, please.
Please take look at the shapes below. Pay attention to the effect the edges have. I would like to apply an effect to shapes that i can cut and merge any way i want to make new shapes; with all of them keeping that look to the edges.
thank you
hi, I did. thats the lowest value: 0.01, you type anything less and it goes to zero. thank you
By @JonathanArias
The field rounds values visually, but the actual value you type is still used. This is 0.005:
Type in other values and you will see a difference, even if the value doesn't display.

Jonathan,
Have you tried to make it with (suitable settings if any of) the Roughen effect?

Jonathan,
"I did. thats the lowest value: 0.01"
You can switch the unit to pt (just RightClicking the rulers and change) and go lower, as far as down to 0.01pt, to literally see what you are doing.
And then you can switch back to in.
Alternatively, you can switch to pt after the fact and see what you did, then switch back when you are satisfied with the result.
Since you were actually able to lower the Size all the time but said "i could not make as much and little as i need to match.. it over does it. see screenshot attached", here

I believe this may bring us back to "the combination of Size and Detail, not least the ratio between them", as mentioned here,

Edit: And what Doug said after I had begun writing this.

The effect should stay live?
Can you please show examples of the artwork you have and then what you want to get, so we see what kind of workflow you are after.

Jonathan,
I agree with Doug, it is a matter of the combination of Size and Detail, not least the ratio between them.
I imagine a ratio of about 1:8 could be suitable, with Size in pt and Detail in number/in.
The ratio in your screenshot is about 1:140 (0.72pt:100/in)
With Absolute you ought to get the same roughness regardless of size so cutting up would work.

You can save the effect as a Graphic Style an apply it after the Pathinder.
