Shape stroke effect

Hello,

I'm fairly new to Illustrator, so seeking some advice on this forum.

I'm trying to create a inky looking effect to the stroke of a shape e.g. square, circle.

I've attached an example of what I'm trying achieve. Any help would be much appreciated.

You could try using a brush for the stroke.
