Shaper builder tool removes zig zag effect

I have a triangle shape and in the front I have a line on which I used the distort effect zig zag.

when I try to use the shape builder for a part of the triangle and the zig zagged line, the line gets straight.

Please help 🙂 How do I keep the line zig zagged?

Another option: Select the line and go to the menu Object>Path>outline stroke

You will have to expand the appearance to use it with functions like shape builder. Object > Expand Appearance
