Sharp edged lines/artifacts appear inside curved shapes - GPU "fix" causes other issues...

New Here ,
Dec 08, 2021 Dec 08, 2021

I'm running AI 26.0.1 on a MacMini (OS BigSur 11.6) and every time I draw/use a curved shape with a gradient fill or with an opacity less than 100%, I see sharp edged lines/artifacts around the perimeter of the object (shown in top photo). There are no effects (other than opacity) or strokes on these objects and the preview shows no evidence of any glyphs, artifacts, or odd shapes (second photo) . Another user suggested turning off the GPU preview and it DID fix the weird line artifacts issue...BUT...when I have GPU preview off - little black rectangle shapes pop up every time I click on anything (third photo). GAH! Help?

Please post that on  http://illustrator.uservoice.com

together with information about your graphic card and system/driver.

That's where the engineers discuss issues.

Hi @MaggiePlanet,

Sorry about the trouble. The weird artifacts & curves in shape is a known issue, and we are working on a fix. However, this black box shapes issue is new. I would request you to please share a few more details like:

  • Does this black rectangle appear in this specific document or all?
  • Could you please share the document with us? You can upload it to the Creative Cloud (https://helpx.adobe.com/in/creative-cloud/help/share.html) and share the download link here or via DM. We'd like to check it at our end.
  • Where are you saving the files (Network Drive/ System HDD/ Shared Folder on System/ External HDD)?
  • Are there any recent changes made to your system? For example, any antivirus, system updates, plugins, or web extensions installed recently.
  • Are you external monitors(s)?

We will like to investigate this issue. We just need more information.

Thanks & Regards,

Anshul Saini
