Shift delete anchor point tool not working in multiple Illustrator versions

When you remove a point while holding shift from a stroke or fill Illustrator will glitch to show a large horizontal bar across where your point was removed. The bar will stretch well outside of your artboard and a RAM error message (pictured) will pop up or illustrator will crash. If it doesnt crash I am usually able to exit the error popup and redo my last step. The same point will cause issues over and over if you try again. This problem occurs on brand new files and multiple versions of illustrator. 

My Specs: 

HP Z2 Mini G4 Workstation

Windows 10 Pro

(Multiple Mac and Windows coworkers mentioned having this problem.)

Solutions I've tried:

Reverting to Illustrator 24.1

Reverting to Illustrator 23.1

Uninstalling Wacom drivers

CCleaning all Adobe software

Installing Illustrator 23.1

Changing Minus point tool shortcut

Using a different keyboard 

Using a different usb port for keyboard

It is not the exact problem as described by Heather, but it shows some weird behaviour with Shift Minus.

The anchor points to delete have a red circle around them.

I've tried several times to reply to this thread with my video and .ai file but I keep getting different error messages.  I cannot insert the error messages because click post does nothing if a picture is inserted. Is there somewhere else to upload or direct message my video/file?

I've had this exact same issue for half a year now, any progress?  The most recent Illustrator update did not fix the problem.

Any fix for this? The correct answer is just a link to another instance of this problem in the forums. This couldn't possibly be that difficult to implement, astute graphics has had it working for over a decade(smart remove points).

24.3 OSX catalina here.

Illustrator just hangs when it doesn't work I don't get an error message. 

My department is locked to version 24, if it's fixed I will try to push them to update to v25(wish me luck lol). If not I'll keep using v24 in misery.
