Shift Key Not Working in Illustrator

Until this latest update I could hold the shift key down to resize pieces in my projects and it is not working now. Also, Illustrator used to auto show you the rotate icon on a piece and not it is not. Can someone give me some insight?

I didn't mean to hit the correct answer because it is not. This isn't even the problem that I was inquiring about. However, I got it working again by zapping th PRAM and by resetting preferences.

Try View>Show/Hide Bounding Box. The keyboard shortcut is Cmd(Ctrl)-Shift-B.
