Hi, new to illustrator here. I was wondering how to make the border or bonding box of text and objects visible, always. So that when I'm not working or selecting said item, I can still see it's border (I don't want to add a border/ stroke, I just want to make the bounding box visible for me, like how objects & text have a border in indesign).
Thank you!

That is not possible in illustrator, you may make a feature request here:

Hi, Select the text tool and simple drag it on your document. It will make bounding box around the text.
like shows in pic.
Thanks.

Now that we're in Illustator 2025, has this feature been implemented?

You could put the type objects onto a separate layer and turn on Outline view just on that layer (Cmd click on the eye that is located left to the Layer name).

Command Y (Mac) Ctrl Y (Windows) will take you into outline mode,
