Show brush outline while drawing?

I've tried to look this up but didn't have any luck. The brush tool has the outline of the stroke size, but when I go and actually draw the outline/cursor disappears. 

I can still see the stroke itself, but it would be helpful to see the cursor as well.  Is this possible?

Hi. That's the regular behavior of brushes on Illustrator. Even if you check Preferences > General > Use Precise Cursors, you will see only the X icon.
