slice tool no longer working on Adobe Illustrator 2022

Hello folks,

I've been searching this everywhere and no one has an answer for it. It gets real fustrating.

Slice tool (shift+K) is no longer working on my 2022 illustrator.

I created eDMs and my latest update enables me to slice anything. It shows the black arrow and a slash symbol.

I can export the file into Photoshop and slice but it created me extra work... what's the point if slice tool in illustrator is not even working?

Can anyone please explain this if the settings has changed or theres new requirements to have the tool enabled?

I am having the exact same issue. I click the slice tool and it automatically switches to a red circle with a diagonal slash(not permitted icon). Even just hovering over the workspace, blank artboards, it is directly unusable. Why does this happen?

So it's the slice tool for the web slices. Not the knife tool, right?

Is the layer locked or hidden?

Which version and system? THis is an old thread ...

I can't see any issues with the slice tool in my version.

I am on MacOS Monterey version 12.1, mac mini M1 chip.
