Slow Performance after updating to Illustrator v27.3.1

Community Beginner ,

I really like some of the new functions (especially intertwine) however my Illustrator has became super slow after the previous update. I use a pretty strong PC and it worked just fine before v27.3.1.
My pc specs are: Ryzen 9 5800x, RTX 3080ti, 32gb 3600mhz ddr4
So I don't think my pc could cause any issues. My hardver is not fully utilised. Ram, cpu and gpu are runing between 25-35% usage which is pretty normal, heat is controlled properly (all things are below 60°C) but I can't zoom in, scroll page or even write text without massive, sometimes near 1 second lag between actions.
I do have the latest BIOS and GPU firmware installed and my desktop pc is running in performance mode. Premiere pro and photoshop flyes without any issues.

Any suggestions?

Hi @PWolf,

Sorry to hear about the performance issues you're experiencing after upgrading to Illustrator v27.3.1. Here are some suggestions that may help improve performance:

  • Try resetting preferences, and hold down Alt+Control+Shift (Windows) when launching Illustrator. A dialog box will appear asking if you want to delete the Adobe Illustrator Settings folder. Click "Yes" to confirm and reset your preferences.
  • Sometimes, font issues can cause performance issues. Follow the troubleshooting steps explained in this article to resolve these issues.
  • Try removing all plugins/ extensions to see if they are causing performance issues. (If you are using any in Illustrator)
  • If none of the above solutions work, try doing a clean install of Illustrator using the CC cleaner tool and removing any residual Adobe files & folders by manually searching in File explorer. Then reinstall Illustrator from the Creative Cloud Desktop app.

I hope these suggestions help improve the performance of Illustrator on your system. Let me know if you have any questions or concerns.

Best,

Anshul Saini
