When I export my file as a PNG or copy and paste into Photoshop as a Smart Object my image has small strokes around many of the objects that should not be there. I have attached my image as it appears in Illustrator, then the image as it appears in Photoshop or as a PNG.

Any idea why the strokes might be appearing?

Those are anti-aliasing artifacts.

You could try and export a PSD from Illustrator. Use the anti-aliasing method "Supersampling"

If that does not work, you could try and in the Image Trace panel use the method "Overlapping"

Thank you for the help! I wish I had known that beforehand because I had to redo the whole image after tracing again using the "Overlapping" option, but your solution did indeed work and the anti-aliasing went away. Great answer and suggestion for a fix!

It's happening because the shapes generated by Image trace are neighbouring and not overlapping when you apply the default trace options.
