Smart Guide Line Extension not snapping

I recently updated to Illustrator 2025 and since doing so, when I go to extend a line by dragging an anchor, it is no longer snapping to the "Line Extension". I have verified that the correct preferences are checked under Preferences> Smart Guides> Anchor/ Path Labels. 

Any help on this would be great thanks!

Hi Anubhav,

Thank you for the help. I am using Illustrator Version 29.0. I'm not sure how to record my screen so I've attached a couple screen shots. 

The "Anchor/ Path" smart guide works, as does extending a line that is 90 degrees horizontal or vertical. But when I try to extend an angled line, the Line Extension smart guide doesnt come up.

It's the same here for me and my colleague. Some new guides are appearing, but the Line Extension guide is gone.

Adobe added new features but got rid of old ones that were perfectly functioning, now I can't cleanly extend any angled lines unless I have to go for a longer procedure. Instead of making things easier they make it harder to work. We need the Line Extension function running again.

THat was most probably not happening on purpose. THey are already aware. If you want updates, please upvote that featurte request as mentioned by Ton.

As far as I can see, I can confirm that the Line Extension smart guide is broken in Illustrator 29.0. It doesn't work at all.

It's the same for me. Everyone, while Adobe is trying to fix this you can extend a line in the same angle by just placing a guide over the line and extending it. Have a nice and productive day!

As far as I can see the issue has been fixed in the latest Illustrator version 29.0.1.

I hasn't been fixed for lines with any curvature. 29.0.1 is only giving us the new (useless) 45° and 90° smart guides, instead of line extension.

I'm not quite sure what your screenshots are going to tell.

For me the Line Extension smart guide works well in Illustrator 29.0.1. No matter if the paths contain only straight segments or a mix of curved and straight segments.

Am I overlooking something?

Are you on Mac or PC? Does your Illustrator give you the 45° and 90° extension options?

I use both Mac and Windows version of Illustrator.

Yes, I can see them sometimes, but they rather do not interfere with the Line Extension guides.

What do you do to see them? Can you see line extension, when you can see them? That's the issue. I can only see them. And never line extension. On Mac.

Can you show what Smart Guides settings you are using in the application preferences?

Do you see the guides on both Mac and PC? Have you seen the angles before AI 2025? It came with the update, and people have complained on multiple platforms. I've never enabled construction guides, and they're still not enabled. But they are shown.
