Question

Hi there - I am getting an error when I try to open my smart objects in PS to AI.

The dialog box says:

The application “Adobe Illustrator 2024” can’t be opened. -1703

Is anyone able to advise?

This is happening to me as well. Restarted computer no other apps running. When Illustrator is not open, double clicking on the Samrt Object, will start Illustrator, but the file will not open. Double click again it will give the message "The application “Adobe Illustrator 2024” can’t be opened. -1703"

Hello @Suriya26811147kpq0 and @David@Stryker,

It seems you both are encountering an issue where attempting to open smart objects from Photoshop to Illustrator results in an error related to the inability to open Adobe Illustrator. This was a known issue on earlier versions of macOS Monterey.

To address this problem, I recommend updating your macOS to version 12.3.1 or the latest available version.

After updating your macOS, please check if the issue persists. If you encounter any further problems or have additional questions, feel free to let me know.

best,

The latest available version is Mac OS Sonoma. Since we are still seeing a lot of inexplicable and insoluable issues in this forum with that system I would not recommend updating to it.

Did you already reboot the computer?

Is there sufficient RAM for both applications?
