Snap to Glyph guides not working tried everything

Hi,

I'm using Illustrator 2025 on OS 15.3. I've read all the posts on this and have changed all my guides accordingly. I've also restarted Illustrator. The pink smart guiades are showing but the green glyph guides are not. Some of my text has been Outlined and others have been Expanded.

Thanks,

Sonya

Snap to Glyph is meant for Live Text.

When text is outlined/expanded, it behaves as normal objects. Snap will work as it does for objects, of course, but you won't see any green guides.

So, in this scenario, should I be asking illustrator to snap to something else other than glyphs?

Depends; Not sure what you are trying to accomplish.

Actually, now I'm having issue selecting my expanded letters. Please seee video - I'd be grateful for any advice.

....and I'm trying to line up letters on a page when they have been expanded. It's for a handwriting practice page and I want to be able to just drop and drag without having to zoom in to make sure that the side and tops measure up..

What are you doing in that video using which tool?

The direct selection tool?

Outlined text is a group of compound paths. You want to select one of these black things? Or all of them? And then? Move it? You could check out the layers panel and see what you have got there and then handle it accordingly.
