specific background texture

Hello,

I'm learning poster design currently. I am wondering how to achieve this background texture design.

http://www.logcb.com/images/2016/olt/2.jpg (Blue background)

http://www.logcb.com/images/2016/quad/1.jpg (Black background)

There is a faint texture on the background of each poster. I love this effect and would like to apply it to a poster I am currently working on.

If anyone has an idea of how to achieve this and would not mind explaining it, it would be much appreciated.

Thank you!

That is preferably done in photoshop, but you can do in Illustrator also using effect >> pixelate >> mezzotint or similar.

Use the appearance palette flirt menu to add an extra fill, and try to replicate the screenshot as I have above.

Since you want a subtle effect I put a copy of blue with no effect on top at 75%. That allows 25% of the effect shows through.

You can also add a new fill with effects but to mix it with your bacground color use Blending modes

Everythink you can do with appearence pallette

You can also try to use patterns as a new fill - just prepare some small points and make pattern from tchem - finally mix with your background with different modes
