Specified maximum text length

I have the following query. I frequently work with variables to place on sports jerseys for various sports such as football, basketball, etc. For this, I use variables, and my question is: can I define a specific space so that the font size adjusts to avoid exceeding the maximum space, but in the case of short names with few letters, their size is maintained without being deformed to stretch to the maximum length? Thanks.

There is a script that can adjust this, but only afterwards and it needs an object for comparicon
