sphere in illustrator

Hello everyone. I am failing to understand why I can't make an sphere in Illustrator. I tried different tutorials and tips but I can't figure out. The sphere is not coming up, and I followed all the steps... This is what comes up:

note that I just started using illustrator today, don't laugh too much ;D

    CS6 - 3D revolve the same object (in this case a 1/2 circle) will be different depending on the side you choose from which to revolve. Also the angle, for a sphere make sure the straight side is vertical

    Maybe it depends on the hemisphere you're in, but as far as I can tell, the 3D Revolve effect always revolves your object around its left-most point:

    1. Draw a circle and fill it with a color.
    2. With your Direct Selection tool (A), select the point in the circle to the far right and delete it.
    3. Select the semicircle that remains with the Selection tool (V).
    4. Go to the Effects menu > 3D > Revolve.
    5. In the dialog that opens, enter your settings and press OK to apply.
