Split Text Box

Help!...

I created a booklet last year with Illustrator - the text was in a single text box split over each page.

On opening it up today all the text has been split into separate lines or boxes!... this makes editing virtually impossible!... How can I revert it back to the single text box?...

Created in version 25 - now on version 27

Was it saved as a PDF?

saved as .ai and .pdf

pdf has same issue

Thanks Doug, I think i have managed to determine why this has happened. 

The text was imported into the doc as a pdf converted from excel (not something I normally do)
