PLEASE help. I need illustrator to STOP autolinking images, I want them placed IN the file, not reach out to a file every time. I don't care if it makes the file size large. It's tedious and ridiculous for the work I do to CONSTANTLY have to "place" the image and uncheck a box instead of dragging in multiple files.

Can't seem to find anything on this - please help.

Again, I DO NOT want them linked, I want a DEFAULT to just place the image as is, ZERO linking. Everytime I've reached out people assume I have issues with linking problems - and I do - that it's LINKING AT ALL! Please help, I'm about to just quit adobe.

Christopher, if you drag and drop an image, hold down the Shift key when dropping to embed them.

If you use File > Place, show the Options to uncheck the Link checkbox, this will stick the next time.

in the future, to find the best place to post your message, use the list here, https://community.adobe.com/

p.s. i don't think the adobe website, and forums in particular, are easy to navigate, so don't spend a lot of time searching that forum list. do your best and we'll move the post if it helps you get responses.

You are my Obi-Won Kenobi - how did I not think of something so easy, like Move/Copy for windows drag and drop! Brilliant! Thank you so much, I knew there HAD to be be something else out there. I hope (if you work) you are appreciated for little tips and tricks and experience you have.
Thank you so much!
