Strange behaviour when saving files in Illustrator 24.3 on Windows 10

Hi colleagues!
did anyone face these strange things with the last AI vesion?

1. New New document window does not appear (and you can't create a file this way). Ok, I bypass it using the legacy one, but it would be useful to know if this issue will fix whenever 🙂

2. When you want to save the new doc which is created by this legacy window, you can't just do it. Save command does not work, Save As does not work as well. You can only Save a Copy. Then you can save this saved copy normally, but Save As does not work again! The same thing is when you open the older files, created before this update. It seems that Save As command is disabled at all.

This issue started with the last update (version 24.3)

Windows 10-1903

I've reset Preferences and even reinstalled Illustrator. Nothing changed.
Is it a bug or I just don't see a way to fix it by myself?

Hi Anna,

Sorry to hear about your experience. Please update Windows 10 to the latest build and see if it helps. You may also try following these steps one by one and see how it goes:

  • Rename CEP folder to CEP.old from following locations:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe
    C:\Program Files \Common Files\Adobe
  • If that doesn't help, rename extensions folder from C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\UXP to extensions.old
  • If that doesn't help either, uninstall the application using Cleaner

Could you please collect this algorithm in Mac and Win versions to pinned post? I'm afraid I'm not the only user who faced this issue.
