Stroke Corner Bevel Join Not Working

Hi!

I am selecting the bevel join option under Stroke, Corner (options) and it does not actually bevel the corners. I am following a tutorial from a couple of years ago where this feature works in the tutorial, however it is not working for me. Can you please help me out? I have attached a photo of the selection I am making on the shape, however it is not beveling the corners.
