Stroke Width tool not showing values

I'm using the stroke width tool to thicken up strokes but usually the value box hovers over so I can see how thick the line will be (so that I can make other strokes the same thickness).

How do I get the value box to appear?

Are smart guides turned on?

And if they are turned on, did you activate all the options in the preferences?
