Supported macOS version for Illustrator CC 2018 and other Creative Cloud 2018 apps

New Here ,

I am a teacher with a classroom full of 1.6 GHz Dual-Core Intel Core i5. I need to be able to continue to run my Adobe 2018 products (illustrator, etc.) because I have texbooks to use with that version.  My technology department has upgraded my MAcs to Big Sur and now they run INCREDIBLY SLOW.  I need to know which OS version works best with CC2018 so I can continue to run the older version and use my textbooks.  Please ANYONE help me.

Hi there,

Thanks for reaching out. Downgrading your macOS is not recommended. But if you want to run Adobe Creative Cloud 2018 products on earlier versions of macOS, then you can downgrade to any of these macOS versions:

    • macOS 10.14 Mojave
    • macOS 10.15 Catalina
    • macOS 10.13 High Sierra
    • macOS 10.12 Sierra
    • OS X 10.11 El Capitan

For more details, you may visit this help article (https://helpx.adobe.com/illustrator/system-requirements/earlier-versions.html).

If you need any further assistance, feel free to reach out. We'd be happy to help.

Thanks & regards,
Anshul Saini

Thank you for your willingness to help. So I just feel like the newest
version OS has slowed my Macs down so much. Even if I give up my ability to
use my $3000.00 worth of textbooks by using a newer version of Adobe CC my
computers are now running to slow. I am afraid by the time I add CC back to
the computers that they will run even slower.. They ran fine when I was
just using Sierra and Adobe CC 2018. Advice?

As mentioned in the help articles shared above by me and @Mike_Gondek. Adobe CC 2018 suite is designed to run properly on macOS 10.13 (High Sierra)/ macOS 10.12 (Sierra)/ Mac OS X 10.11 (El Capitan). So, that could be one of the reasons.

However, you may try the steps shared on this page (https://community.adobe.com/t5/illustrator/resolve-slow-performance-and-unexpected-behaviors-in-illu...) and see if the performance get better.

Let us know how it goes. We will be looking forward to your response.

Thanks & Regards,

Anshul Saini
