What is the name of the part on the left side of the start screen that has little icons like a  paintbrush or an ink nib?

What to you mean by "start screen"?

A splash image?

Illustrator?

Hi, which part of the screen do you mean? In the Start environment are no paintbrushes as far as I see. Can you make a screenshot of it?

In case you mean this part in the screenshot below (but I guess it isn't ) it's called the Toolbar (or just Tools or Tools Panel)

You might want to read the documentation. There's really no secret about how things are called.

I didn't think there was a secret. However when I had questions about

this issue I found I needed to be specific as to what I was addressing in

order to obtain an answer.

Adobe officially calls it the TOOLS PANEL
