Hello.
I've been experiencing an issue in the latest release of Adobe Illustrator (29.8.1). After creating artwork in the centre of the canvas and inlcuding text boxes I've encountered an error where the text moves outside of the box diagonally and moves the other objects with it. If I click on the text the text box is selected, but in its original position. It's only after resizing the text box that the text itself reverts back to appearing in the box. This has been an issue before, in earlier version, but this is now moving non-text objects away from their original position. I've had to correct two artworks that have had this error already. The only trigger I can think of is when the artwork is saved under a new filename after being created - for a duplicate file as an example. Please see the screenshots below for further context.
Hello everyone,
Thanks for your patience. This issue has been resolved, and the fix is now available in our latest Illustrator (beta) version, 30.2.12. Please try installing the latest Illustrator (beta) (https://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/beta.html) and let us know if it helps.

This keeps happening to me as well. It's super frustrating and scary because I have to redo everything, which sucks when on a tight deadline!!! Hurry up Adobe, please!

Any one have this happen? This has happened to different files of mine randomly over the past week. No alerts, warnings, errors. One day I make a design and later in the day or the next day I open it and chaos! Thank you for taking a look.

So relieved it's not just me and that Adobe are looking into this. I've had the same experience when creating logo designs on multiple artboards and on single artboards with things like illustrations. All fine when I save it but when I return and open the file several elements have moved to a different position. It's the worst bug I've ever experienced (in any adobe program) in over 30 years of using Adobe products. So frustrating! The solution I've found is trying to move the elements that have relocated elsewhere and then undo and they sometimes return to their original location. Also, saving as an editable pdf seems to work as other on here have said. Hoping for a fix very soon as it's upsetting my work flow!!!

TEMPORARY FIX (at least for me it works): In the meantime, until Adobe gets its act together, I just save my files as an .eps...I haven't had an issue since

My team mate which has not the latest app update (28.7.1) yet, has never experience this... (on his iMac 2020 i9 - Sequoia 15.6.1)

Same thing for me! Had 8 pages in 2 rows with images and text off the artboards. Had opended the job a few times, then a few minutes after closing it down, re-opened and mayhem! Random text and images on and off the artboards had dropped down by 1 page. Absolute mess now.
Thought I'd upgrade Illustrator to the latest, 30.0, low and behold same thing. A simpler job this. At first nothing seems to have moved, however I noticed a couple of boxes on a page that shouldn't be there, clicked on them and hit delete, the text from the next page alongside it disappeared. It was an empty text box, however the text was on the next page, now showing without a text box.
Think I'm going to go back a few Illustrator versions prior to 29.8.

What I did was convert the text to "area type", but I had to adjust all the other objects that moved. I found this tutorial and I think it's a temporary measure while they fix the bug. I did it and haven't had the problem again, but I don't know what other things I disabled!
Fix: Navigate to Preferences > Type and disable "Type Object Glyph Snap to Baseline Grid," then restart Illustrator

I've been having the same issue intermittently for over a month now. TBH, the amount Adobe charges, this type of issue shouldn't happen. I'll see what Affinity plan on revealing today, and that might just convince me to finally drop Adobe for good

Hey Adobe, This is fast becoming a serious problem that we are encountering regularly and it is impacting out ability to work as professionals. This is ssue has been around for a while now and really needs immediate attention!
It was a problem on Friday and now again on Monday with different files - not sure how I am going to achieve the deadline if this keeps happening...

I've been putting together some signage for an outdoor space, using Illustrator to create it. The signs have coloured background shapes, text, and images. When I save the file progress, close the file, and then reopen it a lot of these elements have moved from their original positions.
I've tried lots of things to fix this including:
And yet the moving is still happening. Sometimes the artboards move position, sometimes it's the guidelines, sometimes it's the text and images, and sometimes nothing moves and it's fine.
When the images and text move they sometimes seem to separate themselves from their bounding boxes also? As in the text appears on the screen but if I click on it the box that should be around it is found elsewhere on the file. Sometimes the boxes are where the text is supposed to be but the text has moved across the file somewhere else? I've tried to reset bounding boxes etc but this hasn't made any difference. (see screenshot).
It's very frustrating as I'm having to redo elements every time I open the file and I never know what I'm going to find when I open the file. Searching through the forum I can't see anyone else with the same issue, but I'd really appreciate some help!

This did not work for me. I had better luck selecting all text boxes, resizing them, then click Undo Edit. Most of the boxes snapped back into place after that. But still had to move a few others manually.

Staying with 28.7 was the only thing that helped here. Plus using Affinity for every new thing I had to do.

I tested several complex files using Illustrator Beta 30.2. I don’t see a 30.2.12 beta version available in Creative Cloud for my company's Adobe for Enterprise account, but the versions I do have still show the same issue.
Issue:
Text shifts diagonally outside of its bounding box, and other objects are displaced as well. This only becomes visible after saving, closing, and reopening the file.
How to reproduce error (but this doesn't always seem to happen or I maybe missrembering):
1. Select an artboard.
2. Double-click the ruler crossbar in the top-left corner of the window (to reset the artboard position to X:0 / Y:0).
3. Save, close, and reopen the document.
4. The displacement appears on reopen.
Workarounds:
Saving the file as an editable PDF, reopening it in Illustrator, and continuing to save in that format.
As another user suggested: selecting all text boxes, resizing them, then undoing. This snaps most boxes back into place.
Version notes:
Version 29.7.1 does not appear to have this issue.
Version 29.8.3 also seems stable, though I’ve tested many complex illustrator files and may be misremembering.

Version 30.1 and beta 30. 2 same issues but the text outside bounding box misplacement is more frequent than all objects moving off artboards

I'm having this issue - just updated to the 30.0 version. Went back to the previous version and it's still happening... I'll try the Beta as suggested and see if that solves it.
Get ready! An upgraded Adobe Community experience is coming in January.
